DO YOU KNOW WHAT ARE LIFE’S MOST IMPORTANT SKILLS?

‘Learning How to Think’ and ‘Learning How to Learn’ are often referrred to as life’s most important skills.

We all need to learn to think and learn better in order to cope in a VUCA world.  A world that is Volatile, Uncertain, Changeable and Ambiguous. The learners of today will be confronted with more disruption, challenges and new problems, than previous generations.  We cannot predict the future, but we can prepare for it according to Nassim Taleb (author of the book ‘Antifragile’).

Change, disruption and new problems can push all of us out of our comfort zones.  The Covid Pandemic for example forced adults and school children to move out of their comfort zones in various ways. Thousands of learners all over the world are currently still struggling  with the transition between virtual and in-person learning.

I have worked with school and adult learners, as an occupational therapist, for more than two decades (as part of my working career of over 42 years).  I have experienced an increase in the lack of thinking and learning skills (and executive function skills) in my clients over a period of twenty years, and the Covid Pandemic has accelerated these problems.

WHY DID I DEVELOP THIS COURSE?

Many learners have underlying concentration or learning difficulties (or other problems) besides the lack of effective thinking and learning skills.  Many parents cannot afford therapy sessions and do not have medical aid coverage for professional intervention. Due to time and financial contraints, I had to make adaptations in the way I deliver my services.

I developed this course, ‘Learning How to Learn with the REAL Learning Process Path’ to support my referrals as part of my intervention process, but this course can help you too! The course is based on my extensive knowledge and experience but every lecture/video can be backed up with the Science of Learning.

HOW CAN THIS COURSE HELP YOU?

This course can help YOU in various ways:

  • If you are an older or adult learner (with or without underlying difficulties), you can do the course on your own to become a more metacognitive and effective learner;
  • If you are a younger learner, you can do this course with a parent to improve your knowledge and skills to become a better learner.
  • If you are a parent that wants to support your own child/children to develop better metacognitive learning skills, this course will be an excellent resource.
  • If you are a professional that works with children, this course will be a valuable resource to support your clients to develop better metacognitive learning skills (and it will save you lots of time and effort!)  It can also help you to expand your existing services or start additional services in your practice.
  • If you are an educator this course will help you to support the learners in your classes to develop better metacognitive learning skills (and improve their marks!) It can also help you to be more aware of possible adaptations that you can make in your way of teaching; creating Powerpoint presentations;  or notes, etc.

This course should be used in conjunction with my Udemy Online Course titled, ‘7 Metacognitive Steps to be More.’

You will have lifetime access to this course.  Additional videos and resources will be added in the future.
