Introducing Linear Equations and Inequalities

Welcome to our Algebra class. The primary goal of this course is for the student to actively engage themselves in a positive learning experience in which there is increased appreciation and understanding of mathematics in the world. It is my hope that students will find joy and success in solving problems and grow as learners and participants within our classroom community. To reach these goals the course curriculum is structured around the Common Core Standards through our Algebra textbook.

Algebra 1 introduces students to variables, algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, and all their multiple representations. In this class, students will develop the ability to explore and solve real-world application problems, demonstrate the appropriate use of graphing calculators, and communicate mathematical ideas clearly. This course lays the foundation for mathematical literacy that will help students be successful in every subsequent course in mathematics.
